Tuesday December 26: Galatians 3 – SONS and DAUGHTERS of GOD
Key Verses to consider: Verse 26-28 – “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Questions to ponder: Faith in Jesus makes all the difference in the world! Do you ever find yourself trying to “earn” it – favor with God, salvation, etc.? Why do so many miss this great gift from God – GRACE? In a world so divided, the teaching of verses 26-29 should remind us the God does NOT favor in any way – do you struggle with racism or sexism or classism?
Prayer Point: Pray a this prayer from verse 28 – “Thank you God that you are the God who desires all people to be saved, and that our blessing of eternity with you will include people from every tribe, and every tongue and every nation!”
Wednesday December 27: Ephesians 2 – Saved by the GRACE of GOD
Key Verse: Verses 4-5 – “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.”
Question to ponder: Again today a teaching on the gift of Grace through faith in Jesus Christ – how does this compute for you? Where is the call for Christian service? (v. 10?) Is there UNITY in the church? If not, what keeps us from truly being united in and by Christ? What role do YOU play in the unity of our church?
Prayer Point: Pray this prayer from verse 11 – “Thank you Lord that because of the blood of Jesus, we are now NEAR you despite once being far away.”
Thursday December 28: Philippians 2 – HUMILITY
Key Verses to consider: Verse 5 – “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”
Questions to ponder: Where are you when it comes to HUMILITY as a Christian? Do you think being HUMBLE is difficult for many followers of Jesus? If so, why is this the case and what can be done? Verses 6-11 are believed to be a modern day hymn about Jesus – what does this “song” teach us about Jesus? Do you SHINE like a star in the universe?
Prayer Point: Pray to the Lord – “Lord, I pray this morning for a humble heart and spirit of submission – not my will, but your will be done. May my life look more and more like Jesus today and every day.”
Friday December 29: Colossians 2 – FREEDOM
Key Verses to consider: Verses 13-14 – “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.”
Question to ponder: Is it a burden at times for you to be a follower of Jesus or a member/attender of FCC? If so, why might this be and what can/should be done about this? We live in the land of the FREE – are we a people who model the FREEDOM of Christ in our daily lives? Freedom in Christ is possibly because Jesus was nailed to the cross – how does this phrase impact you? How should this impact others?
Prayer Point: Pray this prayer: “Lord, thank you for FREEDOM in and by Jesus – help me to live a life of FREEDOM in Christ.”
Saturday December 30: Hebrews 9 – the BLOOD
Key Verse to consider: verses 27-28 – “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
Question to ponder: How does the phrase the “blood of Christ” impact your faith? Jesus is the one time for all time sacrifice for our sins – what an incredible picture of deliverance – what thoughts or words come to mind when considering this blessing? Does the term judgment bring fear or joy for you? Are you ready for Jesus to come again?
Prayer Point: Pray this prayer – “Thank you Father that you allowed Jesus to be the one time for all time sacrifice for MY sins – I’m forever grateful to you!”
