Day 357 – John 11

Friday December 22: John 11 – The Resurrection and the Life (and Lazarus)

Key Verses to consider: Verses 25-26 – “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’”

Question to ponder:  Have you ever been like Martha and Mary – just really angry or disappointed with the Lord due to the storms of life? What lessons can we learn from Jesus and John 11 about dealing with disappointment and discouragement? The shortest verse in the Bible – v. 35 – “Jesus wept” – does this teach us something about Jesus?

Prayer Point:  Pray this prayer inspired by the raising of Lazarus: “Lord, thank you for allowing Jesus to defeat the power and sting of death once and for all.  Help us to live lives driven and defined by resurrection theology and thankfulness.”
